Why would the Nigeria Police auction recovered cars?

Why would the Nigeria Police auction recovered cars?

A citizen, Akin seem is asking why the Nigeria Police auction recovered stolen cars rather than return them to owners.

Akin, whose cars was stolen at gunpoint on the 16th June, 2012 in Sagamu, Ogun State is worried that his car might be among cars that have been recently auctioned for sale at give away prices by the Police.

“I want to find out if my car with registration number KL 44 EKY is among the recently recovered cars in Abuja” he said.

“How come registration numbers of recovered cars are not published in the dailies so that owners can know their cars have been recovered and go pick them, why must all end up auctioned at give away prices as if the owners are dead?”

The police should please endeavour to publicly publish registration numbers of stolen cars when recovered to enable owners know their cars have been recovered so that they can further claim them.
