A police officer on Thursday afternoon shot a middle aged commuter bus driver in Iperu Remo, Ogun for brushing a police patrol van

A middle aged bus driver was on Thursday afternoon shot dead by a police officer in Iperu, Remo North local government area of Ogun State, South West Nigeria and two others sustained wounds from bullets.

An eyewitness report said the incident occurred when the commercial bus driver allegedly brushed a police patrol van along the Sagamu/Benin express way.

Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi who on confirming the incident expressed displeasure of the command over the incident, saying “investigations into the killing would commenced immediately while the culprit would be made to face the full wrought of the law if found guilty.”

Eyewitness’s account said that after the killing, the residents in the area engaged the police officers in a fight and burnt the police patrol vehicle.

Mr Adejobi also said that the situation has been brought under control as the state commissioner of police, Ikemefuna Okoye sympathized with the family of the deceased when he visited the scene of the crime.
