Abia Police swept my petition under the carpet –Citizen

A citizen facing harassment from her siblings complains her petition to the Afugiri police station, Area command, Acting Inspector General of Police Zone 9 and the Abia state Commissioner of Police were left unattended.

“My sisters Mrs. Geraldine Uzoma Elechi (USA) and Mrs. Betty Chidi Ibeakanma (London) are using Police to harass me and my elder sister in the village, despite the fact that I have an earlier petition to an illegal and criminal manner they planned to bury my late sister.

Last weekend I was home to file my petitions to DPO Agugiri police station, Area command, AIG Zone 9 and Commissioner of Police all in Umuahia, Abia state, to stop the illegal burial slated for November 22. I dispatched my petitions on 12th & 13th November 2012 and came back to Lagos on Wednesday 14th November 2012.

On Thursday afternoon, I got a call from a woman on this number 08035494216, claiming to be a Superintend of Police from Area Command Umuahia and telling me to honour a petition against me the following day; I told her I was already in Lagos and that my petition was already with them, before this invitation. She refused to mention her name the same day; police from Area command sent summon bearing my name and elder sister to the village.

Since yesterday, I have been receiving anonymous calls compelling me to comply or rot in jail. The DPO in Afugiri said he will seal up the compound against the suspicious burial of my late immediate younger sister by two other married sisters, without normal arrangements, with regards to tradition and explanations on her death but Area command is acting otherwise.

My petition for Area command was given to Supol. Iniedu Anietie, he confirmed earlier that it has been approved for action, before the harassment.  I suspect that the Area commander has over-ridden my petition for reasons best known to him.”
