Nigeria Police Extrajudicial Killing On The Rise In Iperu Remo, Ogun

Residents of Iperu Remo in Ogun State are calling on the Ogun State commissioner of Police and other Nigerians to come to their rescue as police extra-judicial killings is on the rise in the area.

Reports from residents said police extra-judicial killings have become a recurring incident.

According to residents, there was a massive protest by by residents in 2012 due to the killing of a taxi driver by a police officer at a checking point in Iperu Remo. That killing was due to an
argument between the taxi driver and the police officer over a bribe of N100. The 2012 protesters are yet to be freed from police custody. They are said to still be remanded at Isale-Oko prison till now.

A repetition of 2012’s sad event took place on 26 July 2013 and residents are afraid to embark on another protest.

Nigeia Police Watch hereby call on the Ogun state Commissioner of police to take prompt actions and bring the said police officer to justice.
